Junior Recycling Club
The Junior Recycling Club is a highly successful initiative, established in 1993 in Primary and Junior Schools across Cheshire with the aim of promoting recycling education.
The Junior Recycling Officers role is to spread the message of the '3R's'; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, to friends, family and the school community. Each School nominates 1 or 2 Junior Recycling Officers who are inducted at launch ceremonies throughout September; each receiving a certificate and recycling pack full of information, books, posters and stationery to get them started!
With support from Waste Education officer, Lucinda Hodges the Junior recycling officers are encouraged to prepare and present assemblies, run competitions, set up recycling schemes and encourage pupils to adopt the 3R's.
Supporting material is provided throughout the year to all Junior Recycling Officers that links to the Cheshire Waste Partnerships main campaigns.
At the end of each year Junior Recycling officers nominate themselves for the award of Junior Recycling Officer of the Year. Teachers and parents are invited to a ceremony where each shortlisted pupil gives a short presentation on the work they have done throughout the year. All finalists receive a medal and voucher and the winner gets a mountain bike at an end of year ceremony!

Q: Can an infant school have Junior Recycling Officers?
A: Yes, we have several infant schools who join the Club and we would be delighted to welcome other schools if they wish to contact us.
Q: My school does not have a Junior Recycling Officer, is it too late to join?
A: It is never too late to join the Junior Recycling Club! Although most schools appoint their Junior Recycling Officers in the Autumn term, and the district launch events take place then. If your school is keen to participate contact us at any point throughout the year.
